Easy Overnight Steel Cut Oats
I've told you before that I {love} breakfast foods. If I could, I would eat Whole Wheat Crepes or Blender Waffles with Bacon every morn. Unfortunately, with 4 kids to become prepare and fed and out the door, we generally stick with less glamorous breakfast foods. We basically alternate between oatmeal, eggs and whole wheat toast, greek yogurt with fruit, smoothies, or Oatmeal Pancakes from the freezer.Oatmeal is ane of my favorites and especially steel cutting oats. The problem though, is that cooking steel cut oats on the stove takes thirty-twoscore minutes which is just too long for our crazy busy mornings. Don't worry though, I accept the most amazing overnight recipe to share with y'all. All it takes a few minutes before bed and a few minutes in the morn. Awesome.
Easy Overnight Steel Cut Oats
{makes four servings}
Ingredients
3 ane/2 cups water
one/2 tablespoon butter
ane cup steel cut oats
1/iv teaspoon common salt
1/ii cup almond milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
Bring the water to a eddy in a medium or large saucepan.
While you are waiting for the water to boil, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium to loftier heat. Add the oats to the butter and toast, stirring occasionally for 3-5 minutes or until the begin to odour nutty and then remove from the heat.
When the water is boiling, carefully add the oats and salt. Let boil for 1 minute. Lookout man it closely so that information technology doesn't boil over. Remove from the rut and stir. Cover and let sit down overnight, 8-12 hours.
In the morning, add the almond milk (skim or soy milk would work besides) and vanilla. Stir and estrus over medium for 3-v minutes or until heated through.
Serve with your favorite toppings. 🙂
